It isn't the most straightforward application to delve into, but programs that have this degree of customization rarely are. As I said before I haven't used WA in awhile but I remember it being a tad bloated when I left it for greener pastures. Foobar has a tiny footprint for everything that it can do. You can also make the playlist display as streamlined and simple as you want to or go all out with graphics and whatnot like that FOOAvA shot.

All you have to do is drag and drop or tell it which tab to send songs to, export the list to whatever format floats your boat and you can then import that into whatever burning app you use (it does have one built in but I'm stubborn and like to use professional burning tools rather than the built in variety). I use it to build playlists for burning or for parties, etc it's a very easy to use system. I love the playlist organization as well, you really can't beat it. WinAmp might be able to do all that now, I haven't used it it many years, but foobar puts it all right there for you on the right click menu. It also lets you customize all of those utilities completely. I find myself using the CD ripping, conversions, mass tagging, freedb lookups, mp3gain, etc all the time. What I think makes foobar stand out is that it's more of an all around music utility. The music playback might not be anything better than winamp unless you really go knee deep into the customization of plugins, but it's not any worse either. If it can't be as short, then it cannot exceed the "HW Errors" bar in my system monitor (otherwise it will block some of the visualizer's blue bars. One more vote for foobar, been using it for 5 years now.

I want my music player to be about the size of winamp in the screenshot. My left monitor is my media monitor, with winamp all the way at the top and rainmeter skins for system monitor, visualizer and song info (along with last.fm artist plays and track plays.) I've tried my hand with musicbee, but if I can configure foobar the way I want, I'd rather use it so I can continue using the last.fm legacy desktop scrobbler. I've tried Roon but I just don't think it's worth $500. (Yes, I know I can do this with winamp, but it's very ugly and tedious.) I'm interested in moving on from Winamp so that I can actually navigate my music library from within the player instead of from Windows Explorer ( ). TL DR: Can I make foobar look like Winamp?
